After a long-term, low-simmer campaign, we won: The Louisville International Airport, in Louisville, KY, one of the busiest airports in the world, will change its name to honor one of our greatest global ambassadors and humanitarians for peace, and one of the most widely loved Muslim public figures of all time, Muhammad Ali.
We first started on the push to rename Louisville's airport shortly after Ali's death in 2016, and have been proud to work with vital leaders on the ground like local organizer Robert Holmes, III. We want to honor this victory and the work that's been put into it by MPower Change members and allies.
