The Global Muslim Film Festival is the biggest Muslim focused annual film festival in the world. The Global Muslim Film Festival is a celebration of Muslim life, faith, art, and culture and a unique way for us to come together online through film.
A Celebration of Global Muslim Film and Television
In 2020, during the inaugural Global Muslim Film Festival we featured 50 films In total, we had 30 programs and had 70 guests in total on our live programs. In total, we had over 100,000 viewers from 90 countries as we connected global Muslim film markets and filmmakers from around the world with a truly diasporic audience.
Short Film Competition
We had over 500 people from around the world take part in our audience awards voting for the Global Muslim Film Festival short films competition. Our jury for 2020 included the world-renowned filmmakers - Nia Malika Dixon, Ovidio Salazar, Mustafa Davis, Haroon Sellers, Abrar Hussein, Reynaldo Escoto, and Ala' Khan.

85% of the films in the Global Muslim Film Festival were directed by people of color.
We featured films from 17 countries and we gave awards to films from 10 countries
6 of the 19 awards went to female filmmakers
8 of the 19 awards went to Black American filmmakers
21 of the 32 films and discussions featured filmmakers based in the United States or Americans living as expatriates in different parts of the world.
